A Handy Guide To Bathroom Plants

A Handy Guide To Bathroom Plants

In honour of #HouseplantWeekUK 2022, we want to share how best to introduce some houseplants to your bathroom as not only do houseplants inject some colour into your interior space, but they also carry many health benefits - including reducing dust levels, carbon dioxide levels and air temperatures.

When you’re looking at plants for your bathroom, there are many different factors to take into account - firstly, how much natural light does your bathroom get? Don’t worry if the answer is not very much, there are plants for bathrooms with no light - well, technically speaking all plants require natural light in order to thrive, however, there is such a wide range of indoor household plants with an equally as broad range of environmental needs. So if you’re looking for a plant for a bathroom with no windows, simply opt for a plant that requires low levels of natural light and rotate it with any other plants you have in your home to ensure it gets some sunlight intermittently.

Finding The Perfect House Plant For Your Bathroom

There are plants that flourish in conditions that are low light, high humidity and warm temperatures, these plants tend to be relatively low maintenance - and some bathroom plants can even absorb moisture from the air, helping with damp and mouldy spots.

Here are some good options for your bathroom:

  • Aloe Vera
  • Bamboo
  • Ferns (such as the Boston Fern)
  • Ivy (such as English Ivy)
  • Peace Lily
  • Orchid

A freestanding bath is the ultimate in bathroom luxury and adding a few leafy plants into the mix will only enhance the day spa-style ambience, making for a relaxing soak at the end of a long day.

Did you also know that having plants in your bathroom could help you wake up in the morning? The science behind it is that, the hot water and steam from the water could release the plant’s essential oils, helping you to feel awake and invigorated - the team haven’t put it to the test just yet, but if you give it a go, please let us know how you get on!

Bathroom plants work well in a modern suite such as the Boston Range, plants create a luscious green focal point that works well as part of a neutral, but perfectly designed suite. Or, take a leaf (pardon the pun) out of Pandora Moxton's book and style a combination unit from our Calm range with a mix of tropical, dried and air plants along with rustic tiles and deep sea green walls - simply stunning!
